About ICTMP

(International Conference on Tribology in Manufacturing Processes)
Tribology in manufacturing processes are somewhat different from machine element tribology where hydrodynamic lubrication plays a fundamental role. Because of differences in lubrication conditions and the purpose of lubrication, quite different approaches to lubrication and wear mechanisms and different solutions to huge numbers of problems in manucturing tribology have been tried for a long time. Therefore, the needs for opening a special forum on Tribology in Manufacturing Processes including forming, cutting and casting of metals, polymers, ceramics and composites are growing.
On the basis of the above needs and various activities of the relating tribologists, The 1st ICTMP chaired by Prof. K. Dohda was held on October 19-23, 1997 in Gifu, Japan.
The 2nd International Conference on Tribology in Manufacturing Processes, ICTMP2004, chaired by Prof. N. Bay, was held on June 15-18, 2004 in Nyborg, Denmark.

The contents of the two proceedings are available at the following URL.

The 3rd ICTMP is under planning by Prof. A. Azushima in Japan.
