Aims

International Sites Related to Environmental Issues
In the last one or two decades the global environment attracted strong attention of scientists and engineers, citizens, governments, industries and international organizations because it may affect the condition of the earth and the future of human being significantly.

For the last 40 years, tribology itself has been believed to be, at least in part, ecology-friendly because of its potential to save energy and materials by reducing friction and wear. However, owing to the global-environment problems, chemicals used in tribological processes became "materials to be reduced, reused and recycled". These social needs now provide international research subjects for tribologists in manufacturing processes.

The aims of the web pages are to provide useful basis to share information on international or national conventions, legislation, regulations, guidelines, new technology, research trends, etc. that are necessary to know to overcome social problems of global environment.

The international proposal to exchange useful and necessary information through internet was made in the ICTMP2004 in Denmark by Japanese delegations. In the future the web pages are hopefully linked to international pages to strengthen the role.

This program is a part of activities of Process-Tribology Committee of The Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity (The JSTP).
