
GUIDE TO MEMBERSHIP
- 1.What is JSTP?
- The Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity (JSTP) is the organization
designed to provide the various kinds of fields, so that the members can obtain
and exchange their professional or technical information concerning plastic
theory, plastic working and technology and the relevant topics. It is an unique
society in the world composed of all the fields of plastic working, so that
the members can get those informations easily. Activities of JSTP is presented
in the previous pages.
It was organized in 1961, and around 4300 engineers and researchers, and over
370 supporting companies have its membership.
- 2. Classes of Membership
- Regular membership - Persons who engage professionary or academically in
the field of plastic working, and who support the JSTP goal.
Student membership - Graduate, undergraduate, junior college, and technical
high schoolstudents interested in the JSTP goal are eligible for the student
membership.
Supporting membership - Institutions, organizations or private companies which
support the goal and activities of the Society are qualified for the supporting
membership.
Honorary membership - Individuals who have performed a significant contribution
to the JSTP,and who are recommended at a general meeting of the Society, may
become the honorary membership.
- 3. Advantages of Membership in the Society
- For regular members
- You receive the Society Journal (Journal of JSTP), monthly. The Journal
(in Japanese) contains original research papers with a synopsis and captions
in English, explanations and reviews which describe the present state
and future tendencies in the field of plasticity and related technologies.
- You may submit papers and letters (summarizing your works and opinions)
to the Journal.
- You may attend and participate in, by either listening or making presentations
yourselves,the Society's conferences held twice annually in spring and
autumn, and symposiaheld seven times annually.
- You may attend Society social gatherings, technical visits, lecture
series, training sessions,and discussions, thus acquiring fresh and up
to date knowledge in their fields.
- You may participate in the activities of the research committees established
for each major technical area or division. This provides a chance to raise
your knowledge through direct professional contact with other members
in your field.
- You may qualify for the Society's special award given to superior research
or reporting printed in the Journal.
- For student members -
- You have the same opportunities through membership in the Society as
regular members do.
- For supporting members
- You receive one transaction of the monthly Journal per individual, or
institution or organization.
- You may submit information or views to a special column in the Journal.
- You may receive the special Society award, if judged worthy by the Society.
- You may attend all the Society's activities.
- 4.How to Join the Society
- Persons interested in joining the JSTP should write down membership class,
present occupation, final educational record, mailing address, and other necessary
information on the membership application form, and mail it to the Society's
headquarters. Those interested in obtaining membership should contact the
headquarters directly.
After approval by the Directors, the membership annual dues should be paid
into the Society's account at either of the following bank.
- Mizuho Bank, Aoyama Branch, 3-6-12 Kita Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo 107-0061,
Japan.
- Savings Account No. 211-270380
- Membership Annual Dues for 1996 fiscal year (including overseas postage)
- Regular members - 10,500 per individual.
- Student members - 5,900 pler individual.
- Supporting members - 100,000 per individual, institution, or organization.
- (The JSTP fiscal year runs from Ist April through 31st March.)
